Gung Hay Fa Choi

Happy New Year! Sunday 18th Feb saw the start of the Chinese New Year. The year of the Pig. End of last week, we explored the Chinese Lunar Calender, and stuck pictures of the different animals around a piece of paper to make our own calender. I also printed out the mindees names written in Chinese for them to label their calenders. They went home with lucky red money envelopes they had decorated, complete with a chocolate coin inside.

This week mindees made Chinese Lanterns, and explored Chinese food, with sweet and sour chicken and noodles for dinner. Prawn crackers, chicken satay, spring rolls and deep fried seaweed as side dishes to sample. Pudding was pancakes...well it was shrove tuesday at the same time!!

Outdoor playground

Highlight of our half term last week was a morning outing to Dinton Pastures country park. Dressed in wellies and waterproof trousers, armed with our laminated woodland checklist, we went a walking, a hill climbing and a running. We discovered fungi, saw the geese and swans, and of course splashed in lots of puddles.

The great outdoors, an amazing environment for health and education and fun. Exploring, learning, questioning, counting, singing and enjoying ourselves - can you tell I had a good time anyway?!!
